Zach Alcerro

Zach Alcerro teaches English Language Arts and English Language Development at Ida B. Wells. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, and got his bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley, where he studied Rhetoric. He began his career in education by teaching English foreign language in Niigata, Japan at a vocational school focused on travel and aviation. After obtaining a master’s degree in education at Portland State University following the pandemic, he joined Ida B. Wells in 2023. “I really appreciate how courageous and risk-taking my students are, and I love seeing the community develop,” says Alcerro. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with his two sons and his partner.
