Andrew Butterfield

Andrew Butterfield is a Ceramics teacher at Ida. B Wells. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and after graduating, Butterfield went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland to major in Art and Education. During his time in college, Butterfield went to Indonesia and volunteered in elementary schools, which later inspired him to become a teacher. After working at Marshall and Jefferson High School and DaVinci Middle School, this would mark his 11th year teaching at IBW. “I love how students at the school are kind to each other and work well as a community together to help each other become creative,” says Butterfield. In his free time, he participates in paddle board races and is also the coach of the IBW dragon boat team.
