Ayesha Coning

Ayesha Coning is the principal at Ida B. Wells. She has many responsibilities at IBW, such as the school budget, professional development for teachers, creating the academic schedule, managing the CTE programs and more. Coning earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar College in New York, her Masters of Education from University of Michigan and her administrative license from Portland State University. She has been in the education field for 30 years and at IBW for 12 years. Outside of school, she loves listening to live music, dancing, watching theatre, snowboarding, rock climbing and all kinds of outdoor adventures. If she could give one piece of advice to teens, it would be, “Find the joy in learning, find a way to love learning.”
