Kathy Diamond

At Ida B. Wells High School, Kathy Diamond has been working as a 7-8 English teacher since 2004. Before coming to IBW, she worked at Roosevelt High School for 10 years and North Salem High School for two. Her career started in Boston at a publishing company, but out of the blue she knew she wanted to do something that would impact an individual's life. She says her decision to stay an educator was mostly motivated by, “the community…the kids are funny and I just like teaching.” This year will be her 20th year teaching at IBW. Diamond jokingly wonders what it would be like to drive Trimet buses, but thinks if she weren’t an educator, she would be a lawyer. Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, going on day trips with her husband and doing puzzles.
