Haven Kaplan-Miner

Haven Kaplan-Miner (Mr. K-M) teaches English 3-4 and various journalism classes. He was born and raised in NE Portland and loves basketball, hiking, television and spending time outdoors in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He has an undergraduate degree from University of Oregon and a Master’s degree from University of Portland. He was a student teacher at Ida B. Wells in graduate school, taught in Chicago for five years and then returned to Ida B. Wells. K-M’s favorite show is Ted Lasso and he enjoys listening to artists such as The Beatles, Death Cab for Cutie, and Broken Bells. He loves using creativity in the classroom to make learning more interactive and interesting. “I think creativity is a muscle, so if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it,” says K-M.
